Actually, it looks more like the largest makerspace/innovation center in this 7 state region.
We're expanding from our current 6108 SF into the space next door over the next couple of months. We'll be taking about 1500 additional SF over in January, and another 900 SF in the first quarter of 2015 for a total of around 2414 more SF. Total? 8,522 sf of innovation, creativity, new product and business incubation.
That doesn't only apply to space, it also applies to membership. We have somewhere in the area of 150 regular monthly dues paying members, and about 650 members on our meetup site (people who regularly attend and participate in classes and events). You have to go all the way to Austin, TX. to find a bigger makerspace.
We also have had around 1,000 classes and events at TinkerMill over the last year and with the expansion of our tools and teacher base this year, you'll see at least that much activity in 2015.
The City of Longmont has even granted us a $60K to put together a kick-ass prototyping lab; large format 3D printer, huge laser cutter, CNC gear, robotics and electronics gear and more). This in addition to our already impressive workshops (wood, metal, 3D print factories and small format lasercutting).
If you want to teach, learn, create, invent something or put together a new product, we'll have the tools, the community and the collaborative commons to make it happen.
By any measure, you guys, our membership, are rockin. We're looking forward to even more goodness and growth in the new year.
